Walked up the hill to try and find a bakery, or a supermarket with bread. Met a French (?) tourist with a baguette and she directed us five more minutes up the hill, beyond the petrol station (she said behind – but we worked it out).
Two baguettes, a sweet pancake for Paul, small loaf of bread 50rp (5 bucks)
While waiting - ready to go at 9am, and exploring the expats/tourist supermarket under our building and marvelling at the expensive things for sale – Bollinger 2200rp (220 dollars about). See some others who tell us that the 9am trip is off and we have to meet there at 11 instead.
So we go to the local supermarket and stock up on the things we need for the apartment – washing powder, toilet paper, matches, dish washing liquid, a dish sponge. We buy bits and pieces and swap some toilet paper and matches for some salt from Crina, and some washing powder for Lil’s dishwashing liquid. We buy some camembert to share with the baguette – Lil discovers the tube of vegemite I have brought, and takes a vegemite and butter baguette down to Therese.

At 11 we meet and walk down to the Beau Vallon beach (which Stella claims as the best beach in the world) – watch people with nets hall in a catch of fish. Swim – (midday not ideal for me!) and head back to Stella’s apartment for a meeting.
